3. Description of Services
Ikatan provides family law advisory services in Malaysia. Our current service offerings are:
- Divorce and Separation Advisory — plain-language guidance through separation, helping you understand your situation at a manageable pace (RM 600).
- Maintenance and Support Arrangements — considerate help arranging fair maintenance for a spouse or children, with steps and figures explained clearly (RM 900).
- Child Custody and Guardianship Support — sensitive support with custody and guardianship matters, centred on the children's interests (RM 1,280).
Our services are available to clients based in Malaysia. Service availability is subject to our capacity at the time of your enquiry. We reserve the right to decline engagements where a conflict of interest exists or where it would not be in the client's interest for us to proceed.

- Not use this website to transmit harmful, offensive, or unlawful material.
- Not reproduce, distribute, or commercially exploit any content from this website without our prior written consent.
- Keep any login credentials or reference numbers provided to you confidential and secure.
5. Intellectual Property
All content published on this website — including text, graphics, logos, and layout — is the intellectual property of Ikatan or its content suppliers and is protected under Malaysian copyright law and applicable international treaties.
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to access and view this website's content for your personal, non-commercial use only. This licence does not permit you to:
- Reproduce, republish, or distribute content without our written permission.
- Use our name, logo, or branding in any manner that implies endorsement or affiliation.
- Create derivative works based on our content.
6. Payment Terms
Fees for our services are stated in Malaysian Ringgit (RM) and are payable in accordance with the terms of your engagement letter. In general:
- Fees must be paid prior to or upon commencement of service, unless a different arrangement is set out in writing.
- We accept payment by bank transfer and other methods as communicated at the time of engagement.
- Fees paid for advisory sessions completed are generally non-refundable. Where a session has not yet commenced, please contact us to discuss your situation — we will always try to find a fair and considerate resolution.
- Any additional work requested beyond the agreed scope may be subject to supplementary fees, which will be communicated and agreed upon in advance.
7. Service Delivery Terms
When you engage Ikatan for advisory services:
- The scope of each engagement will be outlined in a written engagement letter or service summary provided to you.
- Our advisory services are provided based on the information you share with us. The quality and accuracy of our guidance depends on the completeness and accuracy of information you provide.
- Timelines for service delivery are estimates. We will keep you informed of progress and any factors that may affect timing.
- Changes to the agreed scope should be requested in writing. We will confirm in writing whether such changes are possible and any effect on fees or timelines.
- All information shared with us in the course of an engagement will be treated with care and handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable confidentiality obligations.
8. Disclaimers
This website and our services are provided with care and diligence. However, you should be aware of the following:
- General content on this website is for informational purposes only and does not constitute legal advice. Each person's situation is different, and you should not rely solely on website content to make decisions about your circumstances.
- Outcomes in family law matters depend on many factors, including court decisions, the conduct of other parties, and evolving legal interpretations. We cannot and do not promise particular results.
- This website is provided on an "as available" basis. We endeavour to keep it accurate and accessible but cannot warrant that it will always be free from errors or uninterrupted.
- While we take care to keep information current, we make no representation that content reflects the most recent legislative or regulatory changes.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by Malaysian law, Ikatan's total liability to you in connection with these terms or our services shall not exceed the total fees paid by you for the specific service giving rise to the claim.
We shall not be liable for:
- Indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, including loss of income or emotional distress claims not directly caused by our conduct.
- Outcomes arising from decisions you make based on general website content rather than a specific engagement.
- Events beyond our reasonable control, including changes in legislation, court delays, or the actions of third parties.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or any liability that cannot lawfully be limited under Malaysian law.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Ikatan, its advisers, and staff harmless from any claims, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms and Conditions, your misuse of this website, or your provision of inaccurate or misleading information in connection with our services.
11. Termination
Either party may terminate an engagement by giving reasonable written notice. Where work has been completed or is substantially underway, fees for that work remain payable.
We may suspend or terminate your access to this website at any time if we reasonably believe you have breached these Terms and Conditions. We will aim to notify you where it is practical and appropriate to do so.
Provisions relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and dispute resolution will survive the termination of any engagement or agreement.
12. Dispute Resolution
We hope that any concerns can be resolved through open and respectful discussion. If you have a complaint, please contact us in the first instance at [email protected] so that we may try to resolve the matter informally.
If a resolution cannot be reached informally, any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms and Conditions or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia. These Terms and Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia.
The parties may also agree to refer a dispute to mediation through an accredited Malaysian mediation service prior to commencing formal proceedings.
13. General Provisions
- Entire Agreement. These Terms and Conditions, together with any written engagement letter, constitute the entire agreement between us in respect of your use of this website and our services.
- Severability. If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, that provision will be modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force.
- Waiver. Our failure to enforce any right under these terms does not constitute a waiver of that right.
- Assignment. You may not transfer or assign your rights under these terms without our prior written consent. We may transfer our obligations to a successor or related entity.
- Notices. Formal notices to us should be sent by email to [email protected] or by post to our registered address below.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or practices. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
